Switch from Tally
Move from Tally without losing a rupee.
Switching from Tally or Excel to Ordwell takes a few days. We bring in your masters, opening balances and stock, check the totals against your books, and run alongside Tally until you are sure.
How it works
Three steps, then switch.
- 1
Export from Tally
We tell you exactly what to export — masters, ledger balances and stock — or take it from Excel.
- 2
Bring it in and check
Everything is imported, and the trial balance and stock are compared with your Tally figures until they match.
- 3
Run in parallel
Bill in Ordwell while your accountant compares for a month. Differences are explained, not hidden.
Then switch
Stop entering in Tally. Your accountant keeps receiving Tally-format exports if they want them.
What comes across
Your starting point, complete.
- Customers and suppliers, with GSTINs, addresses and credit terms
- Items with HSN codes, units, rates and reorder levels
- Opening balances of every ledger
- Opening stock by godown, with batches where you use them
- Open bills with their dates, so ageing is right from the first day
- Your invoice numbering carried on from where it was
- Users and their roles
- A totals check you sign off before switching
FAQ
Questions about switching
What data comes across from Tally?
Customers and suppliers with their GSTINs and addresses, items with HSN codes and units, opening balances of every ledger, and opening stock by godown. Open bills come across with their dates, so ageing is right from day one.
Do we have to stop using Tally on the first day?
No. Most businesses run both for a short while — usually until the first month closes — and compare the totals before switching off.
What happens to our old Tally data?
It stays in Tally, and is yours. Ordwell starts from your opening balances, so history before the switch is still looked up in Tally.
How long does it take?
A few days for most businesses. It depends on how many customers, suppliers and items there are, and how clean the data is.
Is there a cost?
Onboarding and migration costs ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 once, depending on the size of the data, and includes setting up your numbering and roles and training your team.
